EXPECTATIONS

This race can be long, and it is recommended that rowers have the capacity to successfully row 12 km with minimal rest. There is a choice of legs with 25 km being the longest and 4 km being the shortest. This event is recommended for experienced rowers. Teams must be independent on the water and successfully get to each checkpoint. There are limited facilities at the checkpoints, and you must be supported by a land team to drive around the island shuttling people to or from each checkpoint.

There is a MANDATORY Crew/Umpire Meeting/Supper for all participants that will be held on Saturday August 24th in Drummond Park, Fulford Harbour.  There will be a map provided on Saturday August 24th as well as directions to help your support team drive athletes around the island. All check points by land will be visibly marked. In case of emergency, we ask for you to provide one contact person for your support team, name and cell number at the Crew/Umpire meeting.

NUMBERS FOR BOAT IDENTIFICATION

Crew racing numbers must be placed at the bow on the port and starboard sides of the boat and be visible from both water and shore. These numbers are NOT provided by the race organization.

HOW TO REGISTER YOUR RELAY TEAM MEMBER

We have simplified the process this year.  You need to enter each rower individually under the event your team is competiting.

For example: The Salt Spring Team has 6 members for the Mixed 2X race.  To enter everyone, we will enter indivduals in the mixed 2X. Your invoice should have each athlete listed.

For one team member your invoice should reflect $130 + $7.50=$137.50

Closer to the race we will be sending out an excel document unique to your team to fill out which should indicate who will be rowing each leg.
