DATE: Saturday, November 2, 2024
LOCATION: Green Lake in Seattle, Washington
DISTANCE: 1000 meters, buoyed lanes
TIME: Racing from 7:00am to 5:00pm
COACHES' & COXSWAIN MEETING: October 30th at 7:00pm
Password: 5TyvkKPK
PowerPoint Deck: https://www.greenlakecrew.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/2024-Frostbite-CC.pdf
ENTRY DEADLINE: October 25, 2024
ENTRY: Entries and fees must be received by Wednesday, October 25, 2024, to be considered. Our goal is to have the final schedule on the web page (www.greenlakecrew.org) by October 30, 2024.
Entry Fees:
8+: $175
4+/4x: $90
2x: $45
Entries will not be accepted without payment; entries received after October 25 will be assessed a late fee and are subject to space availability. Entry fees will only be refunded if the event is cancelled due to insufficient entries or if your entry is waitlisted.
ENTRIES: First entries made in an event by the entry deadline will be prioritized. Second entries or lower registered by the entry deadline will be accepted while space permits. A random selection will be used to fill any vacancies for a second (or lower) entry. Events with fewer than three entries, from different clubs, will be removed from the schedule unless it is possible to combine the event with another.
SCRATCHES: Any scratches made after the entry deadline of October 25, or non-launched entries occurring during the regatta, will not receive an entry fee refund. Extenuating circumstances occurring at the regatta such as illness, injury, emergency, etc. will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The goal of the scratch policy is to reduce the number of scratches and no-shows at the starting line, and to allow sufficient notice of available racing opportunities to clubs on the waiting list.
RACECOURSE: We will be putting in an 8-lane buoyed racecourse for Frostbite Regatta. Our goal is to offer one of the finest organized regattas your crew will attend this year, keeping safety and fair racing as our top objectives.
EQUIPMENT: Please make arrangements to bring your own equipment. Bow numbers are required and not provided. We will be having overnight security on November 1 at Green Lake, but equipment will be left at your own risk. Parking for trailers will be available in the parking lots west of the boathouse. We will be closing parking lots early Friday morning.
SITE INFORMATION:
- Teams may only park trailers in the designated trailer areas
- Shell may only be stored in the designated shell storage area
- Drones are not permitted.
SHELL STORAGE: Shell storage is available in the parking lot behind the Aquatheater, on the grass south of the Aquatheater, or in the trailer parking areas as long as it does not impede the ability of trucks or trailers to move.
COACHES & COXES MEETING: The online coaches and coxswains meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30th at 7:00pm. The meeting link is https://seattle.webex.com/seattle/j.php?MTID=md45083f9b3a5b12674561a72b4323c71. Every team MUST have a representative in attendance, and it is recommended that all coxswains attend. This will be your last chance to make any changes in the race schedule prior to racing (i.e., Master's ages, scratches, etc.). Regatta rules and racing procedures will be reviewed, as well as new site map, launching and docking procedures, and rules about equipment storage.
EVENT CLASSIFICATIONS:
- Junior: High School in the fall, 2024, or 18 years of age and under.
- Junior Men/Women U17: A competitor may compete in the U17 category until December 31 of the year of their 16th birthday.
- Master: Age 21 and older as of Dec. 31, 2023 (except cox). Handicapping will be used if combining USRA age entries. Ages must be included with entries, or they will be listed as age 27!

- Coxswain: 110 lbs. minimum for women’s crews / 120 lbs. for men’s crews. (There will be no formal weigh-ins; honor system only.)

- Novice: New to rowing since June 1, 2024, or in the first two years of rowing for Masters
INSURANCE: This is a USRowing registered and insured regatta. Regatta insurance is included in the entry fee.
USRowing Waivers and SafeSport: Clubs must confirm for all participants that USRowing online waivers and SafeSport training (for adult participants and junior participants 18+) are on record prior to racing. All individuals must be members of a USRowing member organization.
PARKING: Parking on site has been a problem in the past and is limited due to construction. We ask you to PLEASE inform your participants to park legally. The Seattle Police are diligent about ticketing and towing illegally parked vehicles. Expect to park by the tennis courts and/or soccer and baseball fields at Lower Woodland. Please do not plan on parking along West Green Lake Way; it now has a bicycle path and is a no parking zone.
PERMITS PROPANE/TENTS: The Seattle Fire Department has requested that we obtain an LPG Assembly Occupation permit for all the crews that will be using propane. Green Lake will apply for this permit for the regatta. If you use any propane, you will be required to have an approved fire extinguisher. Acceptable fire extinguishers require a classification of 2A 40BC or greater. For crews wanting to put up tents larger than 200 square feet or shelters larger than 400 square feet, you will be required to apply for a permit with the Seattle Fire Department www.seattle.gov/fire. The permit that you will need is the 3201 Tent or Air-Supported Structure.
AWARDS: Medals will be awarded to first, second, and third place crews in all races.
