High Point Autumn Rowing Festival

  • Hosted By: Triad United Rowing Association

Note, no refunds will be provided for weather related cancellations or for boats scratched after the regular registration deadline. Entries that are scratched before the close of entries will be fully refunded.

Regatta organizers will make every effort to reschedule the regatta if cancelled in advance due to impending inclement weather. This was in fact done in 2015 when a hurricane cancelled the event and organizers held it three weeks later and all prior race entries were rolled into the rescheduled race.

EVENT CATEGORIES:

Youth novice events have been removed and replaced with additional U15, U16, and U17 event categories and the "Debut" category.

Mixed events:  At least half of the competitors in the boat (excluding coxswain) must be female. For middle school races, a "best effort" attempt to meet this criterior will be acceptable.

Masters events:  Participation is allowed to a competitor who has attained or will attain the age of 21 during the current calendar year.  Please note  that handicaps will be applied to results.  The High Point Autumn Rowing Festival will use the new USRowing handicap algorithm. This algorithm is weighted heavily in favor of older rowers. Our race organizers believe there is a great interest in keeping older rowers involved in racing and so has adopted this algorithm for this reason.

Debut events: Participation is restricted to compeitors who have NEVER participated in a boat race prior to this regatta.

Youth:  Participation is allowed to a competitor who, in the current calendar year, does not attain the age of 19 years as of December 31 of the current calendar year, or who is enrolled in secondary school as a full-time student seeking a diploma

U15, U16, and U17: Participation is allowed to a youth competitor who meets the age definition for such events as defined by USRowing. Entrants in U15 will race the shortened course. U16 & U17 will race the full race course in these events.

Middleschool Events: these events are open to students in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade. The distance for middle school races will be approxiamately 2,000 meters.

College Novice: Participation is allowed to college students in their first year of collegiate rowing competition.

Lightweight Events: Participation is allowed to collegiate men weighing no more than 160lb and women 135lb. Male youth rowers at 150lb maximum, and female juniors weighing no more than 130lb. Lightweights will weigh in.

COXSWAINS DO NOT WEIGH IN:

Penalties are as follows:

  • 40 seconds for each missed buoy. While missing any buoy on the course will actually make your trip a longer one, your crew will create a safety issue for crews approaching the start, which is why we have the penalty.
  • Disqualification for hitting or failing to go around the duck.
  • Racing an ineligible rower: penalty at the discretion of the race director up to forfeiture of all medals won by the infringing club at the event.

Unaffiliated Club Entries: these will only be accepted for single sculling events.

Event organizers reserve the right to refuse entry to any individual or club.
