Driving Directions to GAR Rowing Center at Newnans Lake, Gainesville, FL
Parking is $10.00. Please travel carefully on E. University Ave. It is a two lane road and we frequently have wildlife early in the morning. Watch for deer and turkeys in particular.
There is a parade in Gainesville around Noon on the day of the event. The directions below should avoid parade traffic. Please be prepared for road closures in the downtown Gainesville area as alternate routes may be required from approximately 10 am - 2 pm.
From I-75 South Bound (Lake City)
- Take Exit 382 for FL-121/Williston Road toward FL-331
- Turn left onto FL-121N/SW Williston RD/FL-331
- Continue on FL-331 for 5.4 miles
- Turn right onto E. University Avenue
- Continue straight, do not veer to the right
- Travel for 2.7 miles
- Keep right to continue on E. University Ave
- E. University Ave turns right and becomes SW 74th Street
- The Rowing Center is on your left
From I-75 North Bound (Orlando)
- Take Exit 374 toward Micanopy - Co Road 234
- Turn right onto Co Road 234
- Turn left onto US-441
- Turn right onto FL-331/SW Williston Rd
- Turn right onto E. University Avenue
- Continue straight, do not veer to the right
- Travel for 2.7 miles
- Keep right to continue on E. University Ave
- E. University Ave turns right and becomes SW 74th Street
- The Rowing Center is on your left
From North via US 301 S / Jacksonville / Orange Heights
- US-301 South to FL-26
- Turn right on SR 26W
- Turn right to remain on SR 26W
- From there, travel ~5 miles
- Turn left on NE 55th Blvd/SR 26.
- Turn left onto E University Ave
- E. University Ave turns right and becomes SW 74th Street
- The Rowing Center is on your left
From the South via US 301 N / Hawthrone
- Head West on FL-20W/SE Hawthorne Road
- Pass Earl Powers Park
- Turn right onto State Hwy 329B/Lakeshore road (the first right after the lake)
- Continue 2.3 miles on Lakeshore until it T’s
- Turn right on SE 74th Street
- The Rowing Center is on the right in 0.1 miles
