REGATTA NEWS
Minneapolis Rowing Club is pleased to welcome clubs and participants to the 43rd Head of the Mississippi Regatta.
Meters For Melanoma
We are very excited to announce a continued partnership with METERS FOR MELANOMA. Melanoma is one of the deadliest cancers there is. Someone dies every hour from the disease. Sun-baked on-water rowers are especially at risk for the cutaneous forms of melanoma. There will be free screening available for rowers at the Regatta provided by METERS FOR MELANOMA.
METERS FOR MELANOMA was created to support the Midwest Melanoma Partnership’s work to support research to find a cure. Clubs and individuals are also encouraged to support METERS FOR MELANOMA with tax-free donations.
Other Major Events Nearby
There are no major public events scheduled on October 7, the day of the regatta. The Twin Cities Marathon and University of Minnesota Homecoming are scheduled on the previous weekend, September 29-31
Drones
State laws and local ordinances does not allow operation of drones over the Mississippi River, the surrounding river banks and on U of M properties. Any drones observed during the regatta, drone operators will be asked to ceased operation. If drone operators cannot be found and the drone is interfering the regatta, the LOC will report illegal drone operation to the appropriate authorities.
