The Local Organizaing Committee (LOC) is monitoring the weather for this Saturday's races. The latest information we have is: "Rain chance early in the day, then storms likely toward evening, possibly severe (especially in central/western Iowa). High 80F. Winds SSE at 15 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph." (KCCI TV)
We have decided to continue with the regatta, but will keep a constant watch on weather conditions throughout the day. HOTDM Weather Policy: The Chief Referee, working with the Regatta Director will discuss the conditions and potential risks to begin racing and/or continuing to row on the course. All decisions will come from the Chief Referee, and will be communicated and implemented through the referees and Dock Masters. If shelter is required, we will guide those on the water to the nearest dock and direct everyone on site to designated shelters.
Docks at Bridland (Des Moines Rowing Club) and Prospect Park will be used to pull off boats in the case of immediate suspension of races or other safety issues. Please familiarize yourself with where these docks are through the Venue link on this site.
More information will be provided at the Coaches & Coxes Meeting Saturday morning at 7:30 am (at Prospect Park), and updates will be posted here in the News section of Regatta Central.
