Important for 2018

There have been some changes to the Head of the Trent Regatta this year that we would like to bring your attention to.

  1. Event Changes
    1. There are still 6 divisions or racing with Division 1 still all the Singles, the remaining divisions have had the events rotated around to hopefully allow for better sharing of equipment between crews, transitioning from boat to boat with at least 1 buffer division for athletes and overall a more efficient regatta allowing for more overall entries and racing opportunities.
    2. We’ve added the U19 Men’s and Women’s 1x, 2x, and 4x+ (coxed quad) to the event lists to expand the racing opportunities for Jr. athletes.
    3. Due to lower entry numbers we’ve amalgamated the Club and Masters Men’s and Women’s 8+s for added event efficiency and a deeper level of competition.

  1. Entry system / waiver Changes
    1. All entries are now done online through the Regatta Central website.  Entry fees are subject to processing fees and Seat fees which will be charged over an above.
    2. Alumni boats will register online but crew line-ups will not be required as some Alumni athletes are not currently active rowers with a club.  Alumni crews will be required to fill out a waiver and submit all crew waivers together to the Control Commission before launching.
    3. All non Alumni boat participants who are registered through the Regatta Central system are coved under their 2018 RCA waiver which was signed upon registering with RCA this season.

  1. Weigh Ins
    1. Starting in 2018 the Head of the Trent Regatta will be following the RCA rules regarding weighing of Lightweight athletes.
    2. Weigh ins will be open from 6:30am – 9:00am on the West Bank at the registration tent near the Athletic Centre
    3. All athletes racing in the Lightweight events can not weigh more than 75kg for Men’s events and 61.5kg for Women’s events. (adjusted to add 2.5kg allowance)
    4. There will be no test scales available the day before competition or the day of racing
    5. Coxwains are not required to weigh in for any event at the Head of the Trent Regatta.

  1. Regatta Rules and Safety Measures
    1. The Head of Trent Regatta Rules have been added to and clarified to allow all coaches and participants to better educate themselves on what regatta officials are expecting of crews while on the water.  This is important to review so everyone remains safe and knows how to avoid violations and the time penalty associated with that violation.
    2. The Safety document will give participants, coaches and spectators a better idea of the lengths that the Peterborough Rowing Club goes through to provide a safe environment for all who attend the Head of the Trent Regatta and we hope it helps everyone enjoy the event safely and responsibly.
