Starting and pre start marshalling

The Melbourne Head course  will start beside Herring Island, and finish opposite MUBC.

The picture below  shows crews making the final turn, with the Swan Street Bridge in the background.


             

Finish Zone

The river is closed for the whole of the course, but open to ferry traffic once past the diagonal line in the picture below. Ferries berthing at federation wharf must turn across the river, and across the paths of boats which have finished racing. Competitors must take care.
