HOT HEAD REGATTA IN TEMPE, AZ READY TO TAKE ON
THE HEAD OF THE CHARLES
The Hot Head Regatta has been coming along quite well the past couple of years and the regatta organizers feel this year they are ready to take on the Big Dog. They have scheduled the 2007 Hot Head Regatta the same weekend as the Head of the Charles, to offer those competitors who don't get into the Charles an opportunity to compete in a well organized, well run, competitive regatta that has beautiful weather and is loads of fun.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 20 to be at Tempe Town Lake and experience rowing in the desert. The racing will begin at 7am, with races running on 15 minute centers. There will be an opportunity to race men's, women's and mixed events featuring Junior, Open , Masters and Novice singles, doubles, quads, fours and eights. The racing will be over by noon, leaving plenty of time to enjoy a beautiful, fall desert afternoon.
The course is three miles long with six bridges and a 180 degree turn to challenge even the best of coxswains. The race schedule is set up so most athletes, whether sculling or sweep, can row two events. Regatta Headquarters will center out of the beautiful Town Lake Marina on the north side of the lake, walking distance to hotels and restaurants. In addition the marina is less than 10 minutes from the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.
Make plans now to attend one of the top head races in the western United States. The entry fees are very reasonable; there are boats available for out of town crews and we can't say enough about the accommodations, the organization and the weather. Hope to see you in Tempe.
