NSC Regatta Inclement Weather Plan

Inclement Weather Plan for the June 11, 2016 National Schools' Championships

In the event of bad weather that will cause a delay that can’t be made up in the schedule, the following will go in effect:

  • If there is a delay due to thunder, lightning or some other weather event, Regatta management will decide when to restart the regatta and at what point in the schedule it will restart.
  • The order of events will remain the same. If necessary Middle School and 2nd Boat events will be canceled first.
  • If the regatta is restarted we may then change to 5-minute centers so we can run the maximum number of events.  If necessary, medals will be given to coaches to award to their crews following the regatta.
  • Regatta management reserves the right to review this plan and make changes if necessary.
  • We will communicate changes at a coaches meeting to be held at the regatta tent and through social media. In the event of bad weather, coaches are responsible for making an effort to learn about any changes in the schedule.
  • Please inform your coaching staff and rowers about this plan.

PRACTICE TIMES

Practice times are between 4 and 6 p.m.. on Friday. Launch from the City Dock on the south side of St. Joe's Boathouse and stay to the East side of the river about 20 feet from shore. About 100 yards after the finish line bridge turn West to cross the river and to continue on the West side upriver. Go past the Strawberry Mansion Bridge staying in first arch on the West side side going up. When you turn around to go down river stay to the East side and go down lanes 3, 2 and 1. For more detailed instructions and for the Rules of the River click here. A map of the course is on the Regatta Central page under Venue. WEIGH-IN

Weigh-in will be held between 9:30 and 11:30 am in the St. Joe's Boathouse. All boats must report together. That second try must be made within one hour or within the weigh-in window, whichever is shortest. Maximum weight is 150 for boys and 130 for girls. There is no averaging, boat or coxswain weighing.

MEETING

The Coaches and Coxswains meeting will be held at 10:30 am at the Tent to the South side of St. Joe's Boathouse. You may pick up your registration packet then or before the meeting when they become available.
