Wasatch Mountain Head

  • Hosted By: Utah Crew

The Jordanelle Reservoir is a truly spectacular location for a Head Race. The nicely protected South Arm of the Jordanelle Reservoir offers consistently good water. Our racing area will be closed to powerboat traffic, while allowing fishermen and waterskiers to enjoy the northern segment of the Reservoir.

COURSE MAP

We can already see that we will have another low water year, however, Jordanelle Reservoir is large enough for a full 5k even during times of low water. We will be launching and landing at the Personal Watercraft Ramp at the Hailstone portion of the park, rather than at Rock Cliff.  We will change the course somewhat this year to provide better viewing for spectators, with a straightish course ending near the PWC ramp and beginning 5k up the Rock Cliff arm of the Reservoir.

Note that we will also be listing a rough water course map to move racing entirely into the quite protected Rock Cliff arm if we are seeing heavy weather on regatta day. That said, weather at the Jordanelle Reservoir in the end of September is almost always truly delightful picnic and racing weather, with a gorgeous fall foliage and canyon color display combo.

BIKE TRAIL FOR SPECTATORS

This trail begins at Rock Cliff Nature area, aproximately 16 miles by highway from the Hailstone section of Jordanelle State Park. A great viewing area is at the "Grassy Knoll".
