Double Dam Competitors,

Thanks for attending the 2012 Double Dam Regatta. We’ve been hard at work preparing for the event. Below are few last minute details.

Schedule with Start Order

Attached. Please let us know of any changes or challenges. We are not condensing the schedule any further to allow for equipment and athletes to double.

·        The Coaches and Coxswains meeting will be at 8:30AM at the regatta HQ tent on the west side of the river.

·        Please register at the HQ tent prior to the C & C meeting. Registration will open at 8AM.

·        First event will launch at 9:20AM.

·        Please return our bow numbers to the dock master.

Wheel n’ Heel

The regatta is being run in conjunction with the new RiversEdge Wheel n’ Heel. http://riversedgewheelandheel.com/registration/ This is a duathlon (5K run, 19K bike, 5K run). Please expect to have more than just rowers on site. They start the first leg at 8AM and will be running across the bridge at that time. The Wheel n’ Heel is scheduled to end around 10:30AM. They do take walk up entries! You could do both the regatta and duathlon.

Parking for Athletes

There is plenty of street and lot parking on the east side of the river. Please drop off athletes on the west side of the river and do not attempt to get them closer to their trailers on the west side. The duathlon will be going on in the morning and you won’t have vehicular access to the trailers. Please refer to the parking maps on Regatta Central. https://www.regattacentral.com/regatta/directions.jsp?job_id=2240&org_id=0

Parking for Trailer

Please plan to have your trailer parked on the west side by 7:45 AM. If you are late you will have to wait for the duathalon to pass before parking which could delay your set-up significantly. There is overnight security if you want to drop your trailer the night before. Trailer parking is viewable on the maps located here. https://www.regattacentral.com/regatta/directions.jsp?job_id=2240&org_id=0

Team Tents

The team tent area is on N. Monument Street. You will not be able to use tent stakes as it is a road surface. You may want to bring buckets to use as weights.

Food Vendors

We have plenty of food vendors who will be set-up on the High Main Bridge. We encourage you to use them instead of dealing with your own regatta food.

Entertainment

The community is excited to have you visit Hamilton for the day. GMRC is hosting a Regatta Reception at the Fitton Center from 10AM-12. This event is open to anyone. Have a friend coming that doesn’t know anything about rowing? Need a place to put grandma to watch the races? Take her over to the Fitton Center- its just a block south of the bridge on the east side. If you know you might stop in please RSVP to Nancy Wiley so we can plan properly. [email protected]

Heritage Hall is also hosting a Homer Price Day regatta open house. This is the art deco building directly behind the team tents on N. Monument St.  Homer Price is a children’s book authored by Hamilton’s native son, Robert McCloskey. He also wrote the Caldecott winning Make Way for Ducklings in 1942. http://www.hamiltonheritagehall.org/McCloskey_Museum/Events.html
