The Princeton 3-Mile Chase is an invitational head race hosted by the Princeton University crew coaching staff for collegiate crews. Although it is called a 3-Mile Chase, the actual distance is 2¾ miles.
Up until 2008 the regatta was limited to varsity crews only. After 28 years The Belly of the Carnegie Regatta, a race for freshmen and novices, was terminated and freshmen/novice events were added to The Chase.
The BELLY BOWL trophy awarded to the school with the combined best time for the top boats in all three freshmen/novice events. Previous winners:

The start of the race is the normal finish line at the Kingston end of Lake Carnegie. The finish is just before the Washington Road Bridge. Spectators may watch the racing from the start located just off Route 27 (Nassau Street) at the Kingston end of the lake, the Harrison Street Bridge or the finish at the Washington Road Bridge located near the boathouse.
The races are monitored by a computerized timing system. Results are posted almost immediately.
Volunteer members of the Carnegie Lake Rowing Association help the Princeton University coaching staff by organizing and operating this regatta.
