  • USRowing Sanctioned Regatta

MIDDLE SCHOOL ROWERS - All Middle School crews will launch from the awards dock near the Finish Tower, row to about the 1200 meter mark, turn around, and lineup at about the 1000m mark (see sign on the shore).  There will be two heats of four crews each.  After your race, return to the Awards dock for recovery.

WARNING: Last Saturday, the police had a traffic radar set up on the east side of North Cattleman Road, near the beginning of the course (across from the big blue water tower).  They were doing a brisk business on cars heading northbound on N. Cattleman (speed limit 40mph).  Be aware!

CIRCUS DISCOUNT: For those interested in attending the circus on the island, they are offering a 50% discount to attendees of the Sarasota Invitational Regatta.  Use the coupon code:  Regatta50off    either on their website [CircusArts.org] or at the box office on the island.

PARKING:  For Trailers: Arrive anytime after noon on Friday.  There will be a Circus show at 7pm, and their patrons start arriving around 5pm so getting the trailer to the park before then would be advisable.  There will be space on-island for the tow vehicles, and passes will be provided at the time you check in.  The park opens at 6am on Saturday and Sunday, so it is possible to come then, but races start at 8am, and it could be congested.

Further Parking Information:  There is no formal crosswalk from the north side of Cattleman Road (where the Mote parking is located) to the south side where you can walk to the course.  It would be best to walk up the slight hill until you are opposite the tower and can see traffic coming in both directions, before crossing.  Alternatively, the Homewood Suites field is already on the south side of Cattleman Road, so no crossing is needed.

Here is a map showing the location of the lots.

For Cars: Parking fee is $10/car.  Due to the Circus, parking for both participants and spectators has to be off-island,  near the new Mote Acquarium (under construction) to the northwest of the island and by the Homewood Suites hotel (both in easy walking distance).  There will be signage at both locations.  The Homewood lot is approached when heading south on N. Cattleman Rd just before turning east towards the finish tower; the Mote lot is accessed when heading NW on N. Cattleman Rd, just past the playground area (at the finish line) of the Park.

Latest Change to Masters Order of Events: Event 56 (Mixed Novice 2x and Women's Novice 2x) has been moved to just after Event  62 (Inclusive Adaptive 2x) at 2:00pm.  While Event 56 is combined, each category will receive medals.

Changes to Masters Order of Events:  There are several changes regarding Men's and Women's 2- and 2x events on Sunday morning that were made to facilitate better spacing between events.  Please check the estimated times to make sure you don't have any conflicts.  In addition, a new event: #67 Women's LtWt Masters 4x has been created.  It will operate after the Men's Masters 8+.

Changes to the SafeSport Requirement:  If you are a rower 18 or older and do not have regular contact with a minor athlete, you do NOT need to take Safesport training to participate in regattas!  See the USRowing site for further details.
