Info for Volunteers:

Thank you for volunteering to help with the Plains Regional Regatta on Sunday, May 5th.

Below is information regarding the event to help answer questions you may currently have.

  1. Parking – Directions to Venue:
    1. Address:
      1. 150 N McLean Blvd, Apt B1 Wichita, KS 67203

Our event coincides with the Prairie Fire ½ Marathon. Several roads will be closed, but there are still a few ways to get to our event location. Please follow the instructions below so that we can reduce any confusion. Maps can be found in the Directions & Parking tab on Regatta Central.

    1. Where to Park
      1. Upper level of River Vista Parking Garage
        1. To get here from the east or west, you can exit from Kellogg at the Central Business District Exit. Then head north on Broadway. Turn left (west) onto 2nd Street, then turn left (south) onto Waco. Turn right (west) onto Douglas (you will need to stay in the right lane), finally turn right (north) onto McLean before parking on the upper level of the parking garage.
        2. Entrance to the garage ramp is on the North end of the River Vista Apartment Complex. Once parked, walk around the Apartment complex to the river side of the building. A map is in the south stairwell of the parking garage with a visual on how to get to the boathouse.
      2. Advanced Learning Library Parking Lots (available at all times)
        1. Driving north on Seneca, turning right (east) onto 1st Street, and then turn into the Advanced Learning Library prior to McLean Blvd.
        2. From here you will need to walk towards McLean Blvd and walk around the exterior of the River Vista Apartment complex to the river side of the building. The boathouse is a straight shot up from the large dock.
      3. Mokas / Home2 (available at all times)
        1. Driving north on Seneca, turning right (east) onto 1st Street, and then turn into the Advanced Learning Library prior to McLean Blvd.
        2. From here you may walk across the street and walk around the exterior of the River Vista Apartment complex to the river side of the building. The boathouse is a straight shot up from the large dock.
  1. Once at the Boathouse
    1. Once you arrive at the boathouse you will check in with Mackenzie. She will be at our volunteer table set-up behind the large Shocker Rowing Tent but outside the boathouse doors.
    2. Once checked in, Mackenzie will inform you of any changes and all instructions for your position as well as distribute supplies needed.
  2. Volunteer Positions:

Most individuals have signed up for your role via our volunteer link on Sign-up Genius. If I have worked with you directly, I have added you to this link. Feel free to check it for your assigned position.  I appreciate your time. I know you could choose to spend it elsewhere and you still chose to help at the regatta. Your contribution is what helps to make the regatta successful.

  1. Position Details:
    1. If you have any questions prior to May 5th please e-mail [email protected]
    2. At the volunteer check-in on Sunday, you will be given all instructions for your role.
  2. What to Wear:
    1. Expect to be outdoors while you are volunteering. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing for walking around and being on your feet.
    2. Volunteers will get a lanyard and regatta pass at check-in which will be used to identify them.
  3. What to bring:
    1. Water bottle
    2. We encourage you to bring sunscreen and a hat, maybe even some sunglasses.
    3. Lawn chair (if you would like one) I do not have enough for everyone.
  4. Day of contact:
    1. Rachel Tuck – 973-868-1961
    2. Makenzie Hercules – 816-714-8555
    3. Additional day of contacts will be provided to you when you check in.
  • Food/drinks:
    • We will have snacks, lunch, and beverages available for volunteers throughout the day.
    • Each volunteer has a blue ticket for lunch in their badge holder. Lunch will be served 11 – 1:30pm. We will have a break in racing from 12-1pm for lunch. During this time, some volunteers will be needed to watch some of the live stream cameras. This role will be discussed when you check in. We intend to use volunteers who are only here for the 10 -2pm shift to help cover this and rotate through so everyone is able to grab some lunch.
  • Regatta Information:

Once again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for volunteering to help with the Plains Regional Regatta.
