The Rebellion Welcomes Big Boats in 2024!

In addition to the traditional Small Boat Tournament for singles 1x, pairs 2- and doubles 2x, the 2024 Rebellion will have a Big Boat Tournament for fours 4+, quads 4x and eights 8+.  Both tournaments will use the same format with each entry having 3 rounds of racing; Round 1 Time Trial, Round 2 Heats and Round 3 Finals.  Rowers and Coxswains may only enter in one boat for either the big boat tournament or the small boat tournment, not both.

Entry Cap: The maximum total number of entries is 128 boats.

CrewTimer:

The Rebellion will be utilizing the CrewTimer timing system for the regatta this year.  This change will require or allow the following changes from last year's format:

  1. Results including the Heat Sheets with lane assignments will be available on the CrewTimer.com Rebellion Results webpage.
  2. Bow Numbers: Like last year, RCRC will provide bow number cards for the Round 1 Time Trial.  However this year, Boats must provide their own bow number cards corresponding to their lane assignments (1-4) for Round 2 Heats and Round 3 Finals.
  3. Start Times: In Rounds 2 and 3, the Start Times will be calculated for each race, as opposed to keeping the same start time for all 3 rounds.  This will allow the boats with the highest handicap in each race to start when the Starter calls "Go!".  Start Times will be posted on the Results in the "Adjust" column.  A blank field indicates a Start Time of 0 seconds.
  4. Seeding:  Like last year, Round 2 will be seeded based upon the handicapped results from the Round 1 Time Trial.  This year, boats will be seeded into 16-boat groups of 4 Heats with the lowest seed in each Heat assigned to lane 1 and higher seeds assigned to lanes 2, 3 and then 4 in each Heat.  Races in Round 3 Finals will be determined by the places in Round 2 Heats.  This year, lanes in the Finals will be assigned based upon times in the Heats.
