Speakmon Memorial Regatta

This is a USRowing event so while all rowing clubs and scullers are invited to participate,  all clubs must be organizational members of USRowing and unaffiliated rowers must be organizational members of USRowing and unaffiliated rowers must have an individual membership to USRowing. Athletes must complete Safe Sport training as applicable. Foreign clubs who are members of their national rowing federation may also participate. Competitors shall represent only one Club at a Regatta (with exception if the second Club is for the Alumni 1k Event).

 

For the Alumni Events: Any rower who previously rowed with a high school and/or collegiate team may gather a line up and enter into our Mixed 8+ or Men’s and Women’s 8+ and 4+ events. We encourage contacting your alma mater and signing up through them, and borrowing one of their boats. However, unaffiliated sign-ups are welcomed, and rental boats may be available.  Coxswains may be borrowed from other teams. In the line ups, you can have up to 2 rowers not be an official alumni in the 8’s, and up to 1 rower in the 4’s.  We want teams to be able to fill boats, and have fun.

 

CLASSIFICATIONS

The following classifications are used at this regatta

PARP:  Inclusive, Adaptive and Para-Rowing athletes are welcome to row in a 1x or 2x, Men, Women’s and Mixed races. PR3 Mix 2x Crew may include a maximum of one Rower whose impairment is visual, and that Rower may be either PR3-B1 or PR3-B2.

 

Junior/High School:  Students must be enrolled in High School during the current academic yearScholastic (same schools) and youth (composite) crews may enter these events. Junior/High School rowers are allowed to participate in the High School and open categories. However, individual Junior rowers are restricted to competing in a total of two events.

 

Open: Any rower or crew. Crews with rowers who may not fit the master or junior categories (such as a father-son double, a men's 8 of varying ages, or 19- or 20-year-olds not in college) or any crews who wish to compete in this category.

 

Masters: Rowers who will have attained age 27 on or before December 31 of the current calendar year. Rowers who will have  attained the age of 21 on or before December 31 of the current calendar year, can also participate in masters events at this regatta, but the average age of the rowers (coxswain age not included) in the boat must be at least 27.

 

Mixed Crew: Must have an equal number of each gender rowing in the boat. Crews with uneven numbers of each gender can row exhibition. Coxswains can be either gender and does not count towards the number of each gender rowing in the boat.

 

Novice: Any rower who started rowing after January 1, 2023, may enter these events. Any oarsperson who has not competed in any sculling event prior to January 1, 2023, may enter novice sculling events. Seasoned scullers who began sweep rowing after January 1, 2023, may enter novice sweep events.
