Stonewall Regatta

The Stonewall Regatta Organizing Committee (ROC) and DC Strokes Rowing Clubare pleased to invite you to the upcoming Stonewall Regatta, our 15thannual event, on Saturday, May 31, 2008.  As in past years this will be a USRowing sponsoredevent. We look forward to seeing again many of the club and individualcompetitors who have attended and supported our regatta since 1994, and wewelcome all new participants.

The post-regatta party will beat Nellie's Sports Bar, 900 U Street NW, Washington, DC 20001. Nellie's will also be returning as our food vendor.

Race Course

The regatta will be held on the Anacostia River.  All events are 1000meters.   The start of the course is just downstream of the Pennsylvania Avenue (aka John Philip Sousa) Bridge.  Thefinish line is in between the two spans of the I-295 freeway.  The course,which is not buoyed, has five lanes.  Spotting points for coxswains andscullers will be hung on the upstream span of the 295 bridge and distance buoyswill be placed at 250, 500, and 750 meter points.  A course map will be availableat the regatta. 

Boat Storage/Parking

Trailers will be accommodated in the yard behind the boathouse and in the lotat the corner of 12th & O Streets.  Parking on O Street will be restricted to car-toppedsculls.  Car parking will be at the adjacent Navy Yard – enter through thegate at 11th & O Streets.  If your plans require you toarrive the day before the regatta, please let us know to expect you so we cantry to ensure parking in the boathouse yard, which is locked at night. Trailers can also park in the lot at any hour.  Storage in either locationwill be at your own risk.  DC Strokes Rowing Club and the RegattaOrganizing Committee cannot be held responsible for mishaps.  You mustprovide your own slings/racks and tie down straps.

Concessions

As in previous years, food, snacks, and drinks will be available forpurchase.  Nellie's Sports Bar will be our food purveyor.  Of coursethere will also be a Stonewall Regatta XV t-shirt and other DC Strokesmerchandise.

 

Coaches/Coxswains Meeting

There will be a mandatory meeting for Coaches, Coxswains, and scullers infront of the boathouse at 8:00 a.m. At this time, attendance will be taken and changes made to finalize theschedule, if necessary.  The Chief Referee will review Regatta operatingprotocols and any other applicable policies.  Crews/clubs may send a singlerepresentative if getting all participants there is a problem.
