Regatta After-Party:  Saturday, May 31, 2008 after the race at Nellie's Sports Bar, 900 U Street NW, Washington, DC 20001. Nellie's will also be returning as our food vendor.

Conditions: Thecourse is on a wonderful stretch of water starting just before theSousa Bridge (Pennsylvania Avenue) and finishing between the doubleI-295 bridges. Typical conditions for this course are ideal for sprintracing, with minimal cross-winds, generally flat water, and slowsurface currents. 

Start and Finish:Thestart will be just before the Sousa Bridge and races will be rundownriver towards the boathouse. The finish will be between thedouble-295 bridges and just in front of the Anacostia Community Boathouse.  

Launching and Warm-up: Launching takes place at the Anacostia Community Boathouse.Thedock space at this boathouse is limited, so we will be running 9-10minutecenters on each race to help alleviate crowding at and on the docks.All boats will use the down-river dock and will warm up along thecourse up to the start and in the basin just up-river from the startand the Sousa Bridge.  Maps will be available diagramming proper navigation of the river and bridge arches. 

Rental Equipment:If you are coming from out of town and need to rent equipment to use onrace day, please contact our Andy Rabus at [email protected]. We will provide you with contact information for local clubs that will rent shells to you for the event. Paymentand insurance arrangements are between you or your club and the club orindividual renting out the equipment.  Neither Stonewall Regatta, norDCSRC,will assume any responsibility for or liability resulting fromthese arrangements. Payment is generally on a per seat basis and ratesare reasonable.

Safety:
Safety is always the number one concern at our event.Wehave been fortunate to have very few mishaps at Stonewall Regatta,andthat is because of your commitment to safety. This year we ask thatparticipants come prepared to have a good time, but also to observeUSRowing rules and general etiquette at all times. The facilities aretight, so please keep this in mind when moving about the site,especially in front of the boathouse and at the docks.


Insurance:
Please be sure your equipment is appropriately insured before race day. We do not require proof of insurance. Our regatta insurance does not cover your equipment.


Equipment:
 All shells, including sculls, should have bow clips to accommodate lanenumber markers. Please make sure that all shoes are properly tied downwith less than 3 inches of free-movement on the heel. On race day,please be sure to make all necessary equipment adjustments prior tolaunching. These things will help us move the lines at the dockefficiently and will reduce unnecessary delays.


Friday Night Boat Storage:
 If your plans require you to arrive the day before the regatta, we willattempt to assist you with storing your boats. Storage will be at yourown risk. DC Strokes Rowing Club, the Anacostia CommunityBoathouse,and the District of Columbia cannot be held responsible formishaps.
