The Indianapolis Rowing Center follows protocols recommended by federal, state and local health agencies.
Anyone who has experienced the following COVID-19 symptoms should not compete and should not enter the building.
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose

Anyone entering the building may be asked if they have experienced symptoms and/or be checked for a fever.
CDC-recommended face masks are required to be worn by staff, coaches and spectators at all times and by competitors when they are not on an erg.
Rowers should wear CDC-recommended face masks in the building and onto the race floor. Rowers may remove their mask at their assigned erg. Staff, coaches and coxswains must wear a mask on the race floor. Rowers may unmask for warm up ergs and are responsible for wiping down the erg after use.
Vaccinations are recommended but not required to compete.
Please alert IRC ([email protected]) if you develop COVID-19 within a week following the event.
As always, a coach or athlete should alert medical staff ahead of the race if the athlete has asthma or other conditions that might impact their performance and health.
Don’t compete if you are sick or dehydrated.
These rules, without exception, apply to all rowers, coaches, staff and spectators.
Failure to abide by the COVID protocols may constitute “Unsportsmanlike Conduct”. The offending crew or member may be subject to the penalties associated with USRowing’s Unsportsmanlike Conduct rules, including the crew or member’s exclusion from Indianapolis Indoor Rowing Championships.
