Head of the Lake
- Hosted By: Lake Washington Rowing Club
- 2021 Registered Regatta
The Head of the Lake is a 3-mile race with a very scenic course through the heart of Seattle. Starting in Lake Union at the College Club dock, rowers have beautiful views off the stern of the downtown Seattle skyline and the Space Needle. The course follows the shoreline along the northern reach of Lake Union, arcs past Pocock Rowing Center and underneath the University Bridge. Continuing east through Portage Bay, competitors race through the Montlake Cut – a prime location for spectators to see them up close – and into Union Bay. After passing Fox Point of the Washington Park Arboreteum heading east into Lake Washington, the course makes a dramatic turn, following a buoyed 3-point turn north and northwest, directly toward Husky Stadium and Conibear shell house. The finish line is about 200 meters off of the dock of Conibear Shell house.
