REGATTA INFORMATION AND SCHEDULE

Registration and Entry Fees

The only way to register for the HOTM is through Regatta Central. Registration will be open on September 17, 2021 and will close on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. 

Entry fees are by boat: $80 for an Eight, $55 for Quads and Fours, $45 for Doubles and Pairs, and $30 for Singles. Entry fees must be paid in order to pick up your race packet/bow numbers on the day of the regatta. Entry fees are not refundable.

**NEW** There will be NO LATE ENTRIES made online after Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Any new entries after this time will need to be made through the Clerk of Course the day of the regatta and are subject to a $25 late entry fee.  Late entry fee must be in cash or check, payable to "Minneapolis Rowing Club". No credit/debit card.

Changes may be made online at Regatta Central until Wednesday, September 29 at midnight. After this time crew-lineup changes and scratches must be made through the Clerk of Course at least one hour ahead of the scheduled race time. No shows at the start line are subject to a $25 scratch fee (i.e., you scratch an entry and don’t let us know ahead of time).  Scratch fee must be in cash or check, payable to "Minneapolis Rowing Club". No credit/debit card.

Staging Area

Trailer and shells can be parked at River Flats Park – see directions – next to the University of Minnesota’s Boat House.  Security will be provided beginning at 7:00 PM on Friday.  There is no parking of trailers at Minneapolis Rowing Club.

Event Day Parking / Team Tents

THERE IS NO PARKING or DRIVING ON THE LAWN - The grassy area of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board East River Flats Park north of the UMN BoathouseThis will be enforced throughout the regatta.

Arrange for teams to be present to move team tents from parking lot or drop off area. Please park personal vehicles in the one of several pay lots in the area. Street parking is available above the River Flats Park (look for stairs to come back down).  All meters are enforced so pay attention.

Each team is responsible for their COVID procedure within their athlete tents and area.

One pulling vehicle per team is allowed in the trailer area only.  This area will be monitored for compliance.

Race Course, Warm-up and Landing

The race is rowed upstream and has several bridges, channel markers and other obstacles to be aware of.  It is a beautiful course beginning at Minneapolis Rowing Club and ending approximately 3 miles upstream.  Please refer to the local rules for further information.

Coaches & Coxswains Meeting

There will be an “in person” meeting of Coxens, Bows, Coaches at 7:15 AM. On apron in front of Boat House.  Please wear a mask and social distance during the short meeting.  Please read course information provided so questions can remain at a minimum. 

Weighing:

There is no weighing of boat or athletes at this regatta. 

Schedule

Races begin at 8:45 AM.  Watch your time and allow at least 30 minutes to row to the starting area from River Flats Park. Please be aware of your time.  Boats late to the line will not be allowed to race unless directed to do so by the officials. 

If you wish to add a boat or change ages in a boat please do so at least one hour prior to scheduled race time.  If you wish to scratch a boat please do so ASAP. Fees may apply.

Bow Numbers

Will be distributed with your registration packet.  Entry fees must be paid in order to pick up your race packet and bow numbers on the day of the regatta. After finishing your race, please return the bow numbers to the bucket at the dock.

Classifications

“Masters”: Rowers who have attained or will attain the age of 27 during the calendar year.  A competitor’s age is determined as of December 31 of the current calendar year, rounded down to the nearest whole number.

“Juniors”: High school or community rowing programs where the oldest rower will not have attained the age of 19 by the end of the calendar year in which the race occurs.

“Novice/Freshman”: Any rower who began rowing May 2021 or later and/or is in their first year of rowing at the collegiate level.

“Open/Collegiate”: Any rower or crew representing a college or university, either as a club or varsity sport, and any non-collegiate rower or crew not otherwise classified or affiliated. NOTE: No Junior may cox or row in a boat entered in any collegiate events.

Handicaps for Master's Events

Handicaps are based on the standard USRA rules.  If you fail to provide ages for each rower on Regatta Central registration they will be assigned the age of 27 and averaged at that.

Protests

Any protest can be made in writing at the registration area within 60 minutes of race finish.  A $25 protest fee must accompany a written protest note.  The $25 will be returned if protest is upheld.

Awards

There is an award for first place only.  Awards may be picked up by ONE member of a crew from the Clerk of the Course once results are official. 

Safety checks  

Safety checks shall be done visually.  If a Race Official has concerns about the safety of equipment, they shall have the competitor demonstrate that the equipment meets the requirements in the Rules of Racing.

Docks

The number of people on the launch and recovery docks at any given time will be limited to no more than necessary to ensure safe launching and landing. Members of the Control Commission will manage the adherence to this rule. Everyone must comply with their instructions.

Bathrooms/Portable Toilets  

Toilets will be cleaned and disinfected regularly. Hand sanitizer will be positioned adjacent to toilets and must be used prior to and following toilet use.

Results

Results will be posted at a place TBA.  Please social distance and wear a mask when reviewing results with others around you.  Review and exit area once you get the information needed.

Results will also be available online through Regatta Central and Regatta Master Mobile.
