Update to algae--Sept 11.   Recent rains and lower river temperatures have reduced the algae load in the main channel of the river along the race course. The blue green algaue advisory for the Ross Island Lagoon has not been lifted.

The Willamette River is currently suffering from an infestation of blue green algae.   The risk to health is limited to those who swallow a 'significant' amount of water.   While we cancelled the event in 2014 due to such in infestation, we plan to hold the Row fo the Cure this year.  The change is because we've had a year to examine the issue and compare how other regattas around the US handle such things.  USRowing (our governing body) has no policy against racing in water with blue green algae.

Of course we respect the personal judgement of all athletes in this matter.  If you choose not to compete, we hope that you will be able to donate money to the cause of the regatta, or just leave your entry fee as a donation.

The current advisory is for algae in the area of the Ross Island Lagoon, 2500 meters upstream of our race course.
