2007 Rules Governing Entries

Read these Rules Carefully

  1. Each competitor can race in a maximum of three (3) events.
  2. Absolutely no races will be rearranged to allow for reuse of an athlete or equipment. Teams repeat athletes at their own risk and must be aware of the complications that might result, both for the crew and for the overall Regatta. A minimum of one hour is required between races that involve using the same equipment or coxswain/athlete.
  3. Coxswains of any boats (mens or womens) can be of either sex and will not be weighed-in.
  4. Coaches or competitors cannot be officials.
  5. Heats will be held if there are 8 or more entries.
  6. Lightweight crews who do not certify for weight reasons will be allowed to race but will not be eligible for medals in lightweight events.
  7. Crews and individuals not returning trophies will not be able to compete.

Definitions:

Open category Open to any rower except high school students representing their high school
Masters Age 27 or over - no handicap
Frosh Freshman in college
Novice Participant who began rowing AFTER April 21, 2006
except high school students representing their high school
Junior Anyone currently enrolled in a US high school or foreign equivalent
Junior Novice Anyone currently enrolled in a US high school or foreign equivalent who is either a freshman in high school or started rowing after April 21, 2006.
NOTE: Any high school student representing his/her high school or prep school can compete ONLY in the designated Junior events. If a high school student is representing a CLUB, then they can compete in any event.

REGISTRATION

Check-in is in the shelter at Vilas park upon arrival at the staging area, beginning at 3pm on Friday.

Lightweight Weigh-In Procedures

WOMEN

  1. Scales open from 5 till 6:30pm on Friday night for test weigh-ins.
  2. Each athlete of a crew must bring photo ID .
  3. Official weigh-ins will begin at 6 am. All rowers must report to the weigh-in area by 8 am. (Times subject to change dependent on the number of lightweight entries. This will be finaized by the coaches' meeting.)
  4. Athletes must weigh-in in racing attire: T-shirt/trousers or unisuit.
  5. Weigh-ins will be in order of lane assignment with Lane 1 weighing-in first.
  6. Athletes must be within two pounds of the required maximum weight on the 1st try (132 lbs max) or they will not be allowed to race in a lightweight event. 
  7. Athletes can weigh-in up to 2 additional times within the weigh-in period . If they fail to meet the 130 lb max weight, they will NOT be allowed to race in a lightweight event.
  8. No re-weigh-ins are necessary for those athletes who are at the 130 lb max weight on the first try.
  9. The entire crew will receive certification at the same time.

MEN

  1. Scales open from 5 till 6:30pm Friday night for test weigh-ins.
  2. Scales open 6 to 8am on Saturday for final weigh-ins. Weigh-in will be in EVENT order. (Times subject to change dependent on the number of lightweight entries. This will be finaized by the coaches' meeting.) 
  3. Athletes must weigh-in in racing attire: socks, uniform shirts and shorts.
  4. Weight requirement: no individual rower over 160lbs, boat average 155lbs per rower.
  5. If rower is over 162lbs on Saturday, there will be NO RE-WEIGH - NO RACE. If rower is between 160 and 162, the rower may re-weigh-in up to 2 more times BEFORE 8am.

COXSWAINS

    No weigh-ins required.

Coach/Coxswain Meeting

6pm Friday evening, at Vilas Park Shelter

Practice: course closes 7pm Friday night, no practice Saturday morning before racing.

Hotseat Policy

Crews will need a minumum of 1 hour inbetween starting times to be able to share equipment and/or athletes.  If there is less than 1 hour inbetween your race times, races will not be held at the start for your hotseat crew.
