Kitty Porterfield, Bill Fritz and Al Urquia organized the first MidAtlantic Erg Sprints in the fall of 1985. Erg Sprints started with a couple dozen TC Williams High School rowers and has grown to more than 100 clubs and 1,500 rowers.
Alexandria Crew Boosters organizes the MidAtlantic Erg Sprints. Proceeds support more than 300 junior rowers annually.
