Hot Head Regatta Renamed in Honor of Okie O'Connor

It is with tremendous pride, and a touch of sadness, that this year's event has been renamed the Okie O'Connor Hot Head Regatta, in honor of Joseph "Okie" O'Connor, who passed away on April 20, 2013, on the lake to which he brought so much passion. As the boating coordinator at Tempe Town Lake, Okie transformed the lake in innumerable ways—and the regatta that now bears his name will carry on the tradition of bringing rowers and paddlers of all types together in a single community event.

IMPORTANT! Please note that the times indicated on the "Event List" tab are tentative, and will be changing slightly. We are in the process of finalizing the schedule, and will inform everyone as soon as the race day times are set.

IMPORTANT! There will be a Participants Meeting at 6 a.m. at the marina. All coaches, coxswains, steersmen, scullers, and SUP paddlers are asked to attend for a review of the rules of the competition, the race course, traffic patterns, etc., and as an opportunity to ask any questions.
