Five Rivers Fall Regatta

Check In:  A check-in/information tent at the finish line will open on Sunday, October 1st at 7 a.m. and remain open until the races are over. All crews must register at the Registration Tent.

Boat Storage: There is space to leave trailers and stretchers near the launch area on SOUTH Island Park. (Security will be provided for trailers Saturday night.)

Events and Categories: Events and categories are listed on the Team Entry Form.  ( 4+ and 8+s: Please designate your crew by letter . [A, B, C, D]  Separate medals will be awarded for "A" crews and "BCD" crews.  Teams must have an "A" crew in order to enter "BCD" crews.

Definition of Novice:  Any rower whose first race in any boat was after October 1, 2005.

Definition of Youth/Junior:  Any rower born in 1987 or later and currently in high school. 

Definition of Open:  Any aged rower NOT Youth/Junior. Due to a recent revision of NCAA rules, no high school students are permitted to row/cox in any OPEN classification events!              

Definition of Master:  Any rower aged 27 and over on December 31, 2006.

Definition of Lightweight:  (USING THE HONOR SYSTEM AT THIS REGATTA)

4-106 Lightweights

A lightweight crew is one that complies with therequirements below. An open event is one that is not a lightweight event.  [Note: FRFR does offer LtWt OPEN/COLLEGIATE events!]  (a) Men: A men’s lightweight crew shall average nomore than 155 lbs. per rower, and no individual rowershall weigh more than 160 lbs. The coxswain shall not becounted for purposes of this rule. A male single sculler(1x) shall not weigh more than 160 lbs. A Junior men’slightweight crew is one in which no individual rowerweighs more than 155 lbs. A men’s masters lightweightcrew is one in which no individual rower weighs morethan 160 lbs.(b) Women: A women’s lightweight crew, includinga single scull (1x), shall have no rower who weighs morethan 130 lbs. The coxswain shall be not be counted forpurposes of this rule.[Editor’s Note: Please note that rules relating to USRowing NationalTeam Trials regattas and regattas governed by FISA, theInternational Rowing Federation, may vary; refer to Rule 6-203.]

Fees: Fees are not refundable due to acts of God, failure to register the day of the regatta, or withdrawal from an event the day of the regatta. Fees for scratched events, prior to race day, will be refunded. All crews must pay before regatta day. No checks will be accepted regatta day except for additions.

Medals: Five Rivers Fall Regatta medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category of each event.  The Olinsky Cup will be awarded to the fastest men's youth/junior 8+ and the fastest women's youth/junior 8+

Team Entry Form: Must be completed and postmarked by Thursday, September 28, 2006. All fees must be received with the team entry form.  Please specify all boat entries by event name and number and category, i.e. Women, Men, Mixed, Junior, Open, Masters, LtWt, Novice.

Boat Lineup Form: Must be completed and post-marked by Thursday, September 28, 2006 and/or with Team Entry Forms.

Waivers:  Should be completed and post-marked by Thursday, September 28, 2006 and/or with Team Entry Forms and Boat Lineup Forms.  If this is not feasible, then bring them to the regatta registration. Please do not FAX the waivers.

Traffic and Parking: This year Helena Street, which divides Island Park NORTH and SOUTH will be closed to local traffic.  There will be no general parking available in the boathouse parking lot. Only shell trailers and booster trailers are allowed in shell storage area in SOUTH Island MetroPark area near the launching docks.  Booster trailers may park in the grass near the Band Shelter on NORTH Island Park.  All others must park in the levy parking area.

Coaches are encouraged to bring as many crews as possible.  The first race begins at 10:00 a.m.  Novice 4+s and 8+s race in the morning.  Novice rowers and recent adult Learn-To-Row students are encouraged to race often.
