General Information:   

Regatta After-Party: Saturday, June 2, 2007 7-9 pm at HALO 1435 P St NW, Washington DC, Contact the Stonewall Marketing Director for more information!

Course Map: Races will be held on the Anacostia River located in SE Washington, DC. All events will be 1000 meters.  Download a copy of the course map.  A handout will be available on race day as well.  

Conditions: The course is on a wonderful stretch of water starting just before the Sousa Bridge (Pennsylvania Avenue) and finishing between the double I-295 bridges. Typical conditions for this course are ideal for sprint racing, with minimal cross-winds, generally flat water, and slow surface currents. 

Start and Finish:The start will be just before the Sousa Bridge and races will be run downriver towards the boathouse. The finish will be between the double-295 bridges and just in front of the Anacostia Community Boathouse.  

Launching and Warm-up: Launching takes place at the Anacostia Community Boathouse.The dock space at this boathouse is limited, so we will be running 10minute centers on each race to help alleviate crowding at and on the docks. All boats will use the down-river dock and will warm up along the course up to the start and in the basin just up-river from the start and the Sousa Bridge.  Maps will be available diagramming proper navigation of the river and bridge arches. 

Rental Equipment: If you are coming from out of town and need to rent equipment to use on race day, please contact our Guest Services Coordinator, at [email protected]. We will provide you with contact information for local clubs that will rent shells to you for the event. Payment and insurance arrangements are between you or your club and the club or individual renting out the equipment.  Neither Stonewall Regatta, nor DCSRC,will assume any responsibility for or liability resulting from these arrangements. Payment is generally on a per seat basis and rates are reasonable.

Accommodations: If you are looking for host housing or recommendations for a hotel in DC, please contact our Guest Services Coordinator at [email protected]. The Coordinator can provide local hotel information or secure host housing with members of DC Strokes Rowing Club.

Safety: Safety is always the number one concern at our event.We have been fortunate to have very few mishaps at Stonewall Regatta,and that is because of your commitment to safety. This year we ask that participants come prepared to have a good time, but also to observe USRowing rules and general etiquette at all times. The facilities are tight, so please keep this in mind when moving about the site, especially in front of the boathouse and at the docks.

Insurance: Please be sure your equipment is appropriately insured before race day. We do not require proof of insurance. Our regatta insurance does not cover your equipment.

Equipment:  All shells, including sculls, should have bow clips to accommodate lane number markers. Please make sure that all shoes are properly tied down with less than 3 inches of free-movement on the heel. On race day, please be sure to make all necessary equipment adjustments prior to launching. These things will help us move the lines at the dock efficiently and will reduce unnecessary delays.

Friday Night Boat Storage:  If your plans require you to arrive the day before the regatta, we will attempt to assist you with storing your boats. Storage will be at your own risk. DC Strokes Rowing Club, the Anacostia Community Boathouse,and the District of Columbia cannot be held responsible for mishaps.

Parking:  Parking facilities will be provided close to the boathouse at the Navy Yard's "O" Street SE garage; parking in front of the boathouse on "O"Street SE will not be permitted. Where possible, please plan to carpool to the site as space may be limited. Please refer to the Participant,Trailer and Spectator Directions above regarding where to park.
