Head of the Giblet

  • Hosted By: South Orlando Rowing Association

Please see venue tab for course map.

Due to the unexpected growth of the Giblet this year, we will need to be very organized in launching to help minimize congestion at the warmup area.  We are asking all crews to launch in bow# order and will be very strict with launching for all 8+'s events and any events with more than 6 entries.

For the middle school races, crews will be allowed to launch after the last of the Men's HS Novice 4+ cross the 1500m turn near the launch docks.  The middleschool 8+'s will row directly across the race course into the large part of the lake.  Once coaches & officials arrive, crews will move to the 1750m area, paddle to the 1500m area where the middleschool head race will begin.  Middleschool competitors will then follow the race course to the finish line so that parents & supporters can cheer & take pictures of their racers.

FIRST call for all boats will be 30 minutes prior to start.  FINAL call will be 20 minutes prior to start.  All coxswains hot seating will receive a hot seating card at registration.  Please make sure coxswains know to hold up this card immediately upon crossing the finish line and officials will help direct them back to the recovery dock.  Hot seating will be done off of the recovery dock under the direction of the dockmaster.  Please work with your coxswains on being polite yet efficient.

WEIGH INNS will be available Friday from 5-7 p.m. Saturday morning from 6:30-10 a.m.
