2010 Head of the Fish Regatta
Entry Packet andGeneral Information
The 26thAnnual Head of the Fish Regatta, co-hosted by the Saratoga Springs Rowing Cluband the Saratoga Rowing Association, will be held Saturday, October 30th& Sunday October 31st 2010. This year the regatta willbe held on the same 2.2 mile course as it has been used for the past 25years. However, the starting line will be 300 meters before the Skidmore(Staffords) Bridge & the Finish Line will be 300 meters before the 9PBridge (what?s left of it).
We hope youwill be able to join us on the 30th for the Head of the Fish Regatta? home of great water, and the best trophies & t-shirts on the circuit.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2010
1.All registrationwill be handled online this year at www.RegattaCentral.com.Deadlines will be strictly enforced.
2.OfficialRegatta Venue ?The regatta is held primarily on Lee?s Park.All trailers, tents, launch docks, vehicle parking areas, etc arelocated on this site.The vendor tent,bus parking, timing areas, and Law Enforcement vehicles will be located on theState Boat Launch.There will be EMSlocations located on both sites.Allvehicles other than buses (which need passes), vendors, and officials will parkin Lee?s Park.There will be a $10 feeper vehicle.Tow vehicles are exemptfrom this charge.
3.EntryDeadline ? Theregatta entry deadline will be strictly enforced. All regatta entriesmust be completed online no later than October 23rd, 2010.
4.MAJOR CHANGES!!The regatta format is broken up into two days:All Masters, Collegiate, and Open Events will be held on Saturday.All High School/Junior Events will be held onSunday.(This was done to be in linewith NCAA regulations regarding some of the colleges.)

Definitions
Youth Eighteenyears old and under on race day; not open to college freshmen.
JuniorA & BJunior ?A? = 18 years andunder.?B? = 16 years and under.
Freshmen Grade 9 and/or younger; regardless ofexperience.
ModifiedMiddleSchool rowers
Open Theseevents are open to any rower in any age group.
Master Anyrower who has attained the age of 23 on or before race day. MasterSingles events will be divided into three competing groups: Ages 27 to39, Ages 40 to 49, and Ages 50-59
Veteran Age60 or over.
Novice Anyrower who started rowing after Jan 1, 2010 may enter these events. Collegiate rowers who are in their first year of college rowing may enter thenovice events.
Lightweight 135lbs. Maximum for women; 165 lbs maximum for men, per individual oarsperson.And, 135lbs & 155lbs max for HS/Youth crews. Average boat weight notapplicable. Weigh-in only for winning crews - after event.
MixedEight 4women, 4 men, 1 coxswain ? no more, no less.Crews may row with more women in the boat, but nor more men.
RULES
USRARules of Racing shall apply
Boats being overtaken must yield to the passing boat,which must indicate its intentions. On curves, the overtaken boat shouldallow the overtaking boat to pass on the inside. The overtaking boat mustallow ample clearance before moving in front of the passed boat.
Hot-seating (of equipment and personnel)will be performed at the crew?s risk of missing an event. At least tworaces should separate the events being rowed. Under no circumstances willthe start of an event be held up waiting for a late boat.
Bow numbers and back numbers must beused. Numbers will be provided at registration. Crews without bownumbers and/or back numbers will not be permitted to launch. Bow numbersare to be turned in at the launch site after race.Please allow the person collecting to do soupon reaching the dock.
Boats without bow balls and quickrelease footgear will not be permitted to launch. All boats will beinspected prior to launch.

RESULTS
Computerized results for each eventwill be made available as soon as possible. All results posted on regatta dayare unofficial. Results will be posted on the trailer directly in frontof the Registration Tent.
AWARDS
Medals will be awarded to the membersof each winning boat as well as second and third place finishers. FishHead trophies are awarded to the winning boat in selected event/category (thosewith at least 5 entries in them). The total point collegiate championcrew (DI and DIII) and the total non-collegiate champion crew get theinscription of their name on the permanent trophies.
As soon as results are posted, winningcrews should appear or send a representative to the Registration Tent toreceive their awards.
PARKING
Parking arrangements for crews andindividuals will be detailed on the website as the event draws nearer.Please pay close attention to theinstructions regarding parking, and well as the instructions received frompolice and volunteers on regatta day.
Overnight parking of boats, trailers,and equipment (not vehicles) will be allowed on Friday night. Volunteerswill be on hand starting at noon on Friday to direct trailer and boatparking.Please do not come with demandsfor your Trailer & Food tents.Thevolunteers will direct you to a place, not vice-versa.Also, there will be security on the premisesto safeguard the equipment ? both nights.

From points east: Take I-90 West (Mass Pike)into NY State. (I-90 West becomes the NY State Thruway). Continue on I-90West to exit B3 towards Albany, NY. Go through Albany on I-90 West to theintersection of I-87 North (the Northway). Continue North on I-87 to Exit13S. Follow VLT message Boards.
From points west: Take I-90 East toward Albany,NY to exit 24. Proceed through toll booths at exit 24 and follow signsfor I-87 North. Take I-87 North to Exit 13S. Follow VLT messageBoards.
From points south: Take I-87 North toward Albany,NY to exit 13S.Follow VLT messageBoards.
From points north: Take I-87 South toward LakeGeorge / Albany to Exit 13S. Follow VLT message Boards.
SpecialNote: The Bridge has been taken down.For those staying in the City of Saratogaplease look at the website map for directions avoiding the bridge (Left onMeadowbrook Rd., Right on Stafford?s Bridge Rd., Cross river at theStart. Right on Fitch Rd., Right on Rt. 9P. Right into Lee?sPark.Be aware that Fitch Rd has an8 ton weight limit.Itis an old farming road ? curvy and narrow.PLEASE drive carefully.

The coaches,coxswains, and scullers meeting will be held adjacent to the registration tentat Lee?s Park at 6:30 a.m. A race schedule, map of course, and generalrules will be available at this time. All coaches, coxswains, andscullers are responsible for the information given at the meeting.
