        Race Information

The Course

Langley Pond is a 2000-meter fully buoyed six-lane USRA approved rowing course and has been the site of several U.S. National Team sculling trials, and the SE Junior and the SE Regional Championships.

The regatta will use the first 1000 meters as warm-up area, and will use the last 1000 meters as the official racecourse.

Safety

Marshals will inspect all equipment to make sure that it adheres to the current USRowing Rules of Rowing. Bow balls are required on all shells.

Quick release footgear is required.

The opening for the coxswain in bow coxed boats must meet the USRowing Rules of Rowing.

Bow numbers are required and must be provided by the participants.

An EMS station is adjacent to the trailer parking area.

Coaches' / Cox'ns' / Scullers' Meeting

The regatta meeting for all scullers, coaches and coxswains will be held Saturday May 15, 2010 at the course at 7:30 a.m. The updated event schedule, racecourse, officials, etc. will be discussed. Any crew that doesn't attend will be responsible for the information presented.

Regatta Rules

USRA current Rules of Racing will apply, except where listed below.

Age Categories

USRA Master's age classifications will be used. Participant age is as of December 31, 2010. The average age of the crew is determined by averaging the age of the rowers and rounding down to the whole integer. Coxswains don't have to meet Masters age requirements.

In some events, "AA", "A" and "B" age groups will race together, as will the "C" through "J" age groups. Crews from different age categories within an event will be handicapped, using the USRA 1000-meter handicapping values. "C" through "J" crews may race in the "AA-B" events, but will not be handicapped.

If any scheduled event should receive more than 6 entries, that event may be divided into smaller age categories at the LOC and Chief Referee's discretion. Those sub-categories will be raced consecutively during the event's schedule time.

Events from either the "AA-B" or "C-J" age categories that fail to attract two entries in either the "AA-B" or "C-J" will be combined.

Events that fail to attract two entries will be cancelled.

Coxswain Weight

There will be no minimum weight for coxswains.

Weight Classes

There will be no lightweight events.

Weigh-ins

Weigh-ins will not be necessary

Mixed Events

Mixed crews must have equal numbers of men and women.

Awards and Results

Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, providing that you finish ahead of another entry.

All final results will be available within 1 hour after the completion of the final event.  Results will be posted at regatta headquarters, as they become available throughout the regatta.

Boat Storage and Security

Ample trailer parking and boat storage is available. The regatta site will be available Friday, May 14, 2010 at noon for crews to unload and practice. The site will have security from 8:00 p.m. Friday to 6:00 a.m. Saturday.
