CRITICAL NOTICES

The regatta will follow USRA's Rules of Rowing.  Please make sure your crews understand this information.  Crews who are unsafe or arrive late to the line will not be allowed to race.

In response to continual problems with unqualified novice crews, we have had to institute the following rule; if a novice boat is disqualified for safety reasons, that boat's entire novice squad (boys and girls) will be disqualified from the regatta and will not compete in any remaining races. 

Please view tentative event schedule.  Events will not be moved for hot-seating or equipment share, so plan accordingly.  There will be minor adjustments after the registration deadline for the addition or removal of heats as necessary. Final-only events will be run first in the afternoon, to accommodate rest time for those who qualified for a final in the morning.

Events with three or less entries (four or less for sculling exhibition events) by the end of registration will not be run.  In the event of a race cancellation, the regatta committee will work with effected teams to place those crews in other events.  

Late entries will not be accepted.  (Extraordinary circumstances will be considered at the discretion of the regatta committee.)  

  GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  1.  Volunteers? Every program must provide one coach and one additional volunteer for the entirety of the day.  Coaches need to be available for a full day on the water.  Additional volunteers will be utilized in 2 half-day shifts and must be available for the full shift length; no substitutions outside of the mid-day break.  Programs are required to submit the volunteer coach information on Regatta Central by the entry deadline.  

 2.  Race Day Registration ? Registration is at regatta headquarters at Lowell Boathouse in the gated area.  All teams must register between 6:00AMand 7:00AM. Clubs missing waivers, rosters or regatta fees will not be allowed to register.

 3.  Coaches & Coxswain's Meeting ? Will be held at 7:00AM and is required for all.  Teams who do not attend will not be allowed to race.

 4.  Important features for your equipment:

• All shells must have a bow ball.
• All shells must have heel tie-downs that do not allow the rower to raise heels more than 3" from the footboard.

If any of the conditions are not met you will not be allowed to launch. 

 5.  Bow Markers:  Each school is responsible for supplying its own bow marker(s). Secure marker properly to the bow so that it will withstand wind and rain.

 6.  Order of Event Cancellation:  If an event is canceled both the boys and girls events will be canceled together, in each category smaller boats will be canceled first.

 ELIGIBILTY

Program Eligibility:  Entry into the 2009 MPSRA Championship is open to all MPSRA Full and Provisional Participant Programs.  Please see the Procedural Rules posted on the MPSRA website (mpsra.org) for information on what constitutes a Participant Program.

 Novice Rowers - As stated in the MPSRA Procedural Rules, to row as a novice, a competitor must be no older than a freshman or in his/her first year of rowing. 

 Double Entries - Double entries are not allowed between two sweep events.  Double entries of athletes between a sweeps and a sculling event is allowed.  Exceptions to this rule may be made at the discretion of the Board.
