Welcome to the 2021 Head of the Rock Regatta! We're back after two flood-outs and a year of Covid-19.

The members of the Rock River Valley YMCA Rowing Club want to welcome you to our 33rd annual regatta to be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021.  We also want to thank our sponsors and volunteers in helping put on this event.  Without them we would not be able to host this event for you to enjoy the competition and our fantastic rowing venue.  The club constantly strives to improve our event.  Again this year the club is utilizing professional timing services, which will employ the use of FinishLynx cameras, two splits will also be reported.

NEW for 2021:

• 2 new dock access points, so there's a new grounds traffic pattern to follow. (See COURSE MAP in Venue tab.) 
• New food trucks too.

COVID PROTOCOLS:

As of today, Illinois has reinstated indoor masking requirements, but we recommend having a mask if you're in a large group of people in a confined space on the grounds and not within your pod. We recommend all rowers be vaccinated. In the event a vaccination is not an option, then rowers must have a negative COVID test 2 days prior to the event and wear a mask.

• Also note, due to popular demand we will have 2 split timers on the course this year.

As the sport of rowing grows, so does our event.  The last several years have been a challenge for the Head of the Rock with COVID-19 and high water flooding the two previous years, but we have not gone away. We want to continually improve our event, and in the near future, maybe even this year, we may find it necessary to close registrations early, so as not to exceed the number of boats we can launch and retrieve in a day.  With this in mind, we encourage you to register early.  In order to ensure your spot in our event, we request you pay by credit card at time of registration.  We will honor all registrations by college and university teams who will be paying through their schools' regular channels.

We will have special reserved parking for singles and doubles on a first-come basis. 

PLEASE NOTE THAT EVENT TIMES IN THE EVENT LIST ARE TO SERVE AS GUIDELINES.  THE FINAL POSTED SCHEDULE ORDER OF EVENTS WILL NOT CHANGE, BUT EXACT TIMES BETWEEN EVENTS MIGHT.  ALL CHANGES WILL BE POSTED ONCE AVAILABLE.  Note changes are necessary as factors, such as the number of boats in each event, will influence the final schedule. The final schedule will be available early on Friday prior to the event.  Final Event Schedules will be placed in race packets, so please review them after you pick them up.  

NOTE: Handicap times will be applied to all Masters races within the brackets.
