            2017 Dogwood Junior Championship Regatta

Coaches,

Thank you for your patience in regards to this weekend.  To recap, East Tennessee has had unusually high levels of precipitation over the past few days, resulting heavy flooding and river flow. Melton Lake has experienced 10x the water flow as normal.  This has led to a lot of debris and some damage to the 2000m course.  After consulting with the Tennessee Valley Authority and U.S. Coast Guard, they confirmed that the water flow rate will remain too high for safe rowing regatta operations over the weekend.  They have recommended cancellation of the event due to safety concerns.  

As a result, ORRA regrets to inform you that the 2017 Dogwood Junior Championship has been cancelled.  

We certainly understand what a significant emotional and financial effect this will have on your team and we apologize for this terrible inconvenience.  To help, ORRA will gladly reimburse all regatta entry fees your team has paid.  If any team would like to donate part of their regatta fees to help ORRA cover the regatta costs, we would be very appreciative.  Again, please understand that our decision to cancel was due in large part to keeping all of our rowers safe and was an absolute last resort.
