Update on Youth Events

In an effort to provide our members with additional racing opportunities and added value to their membership, USRowing and the Textile River Regatta developed a weekend schedule with the intent of creating more racing opportunities for youth programs. Over the past few days, public feedback has indicated that this structure does not meet the needs of the youth rowing community.

We thank you for your response. USRowing is taking the following course of action regarding the National Head Race and Textile River Regatta:

• USRowing is returning the varsity youth events to the Textile River Regatta as part of its program on Sunday, Oct. 4. Textile River Regatta requirements, in terms of cost and rules, will govern these events.

• The USRowing National Head Race will continue to offer the under 23 and masters events currently listed. These events will be held as originally scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 3.

USRowing's overall goal is to amplify the highly regarded Textile River Regatta, bringing positive national attention to a well-run regatta, as well as enhance the racing opportunities and membership value for clubs local to the event. We value your feedback and look forward to future opportunities to work together in building champions.

Key Information for Masters
Who am I competing against?: Medals are awarded to crews based on their age categories, as occurs at Masters Nationals. No handicaps are applied. For example, in the Mens Masters 1x, crews in the A category will be awarded medals based on their finish compared to other A category crews, and the same applies for all other age categories.

Key Information for U23 Events
Can Youth competitors compete in U23 events?: NO. The U23 category is closed to any Youth competitors, to prevent any potential issues with NCAA rules.
