Robert E. Day Jr. Capital Sprints

  • Hosted By: Capital Rowing Club
  • USRowing Sanctioned Regatta

OVERVIEW: Capital Sprints will include masters, novice, juniors and inclusion/adaptive events.  We are also offering both 2x and 1X non-binary events.  We will have food trucks, medals, and loads of fun seeing old friends and making new ones!  The race will be held at the Anacostia Community Boathouse at 1900 M Street SE, Washington, DC.

Registration will open Sunday, June 1, at noon and close June 23 at 11:59 PM.  Late entry, at an additional cost, closes June 25 at 11:59 PM. The regatta is sanctioned by USRowing. We are not able to offer refunds for cancellation of races due to weather or unsafe water conditions.

RACE CATEGORIES: All races will be 1000 meters.  We will run five lanes, tide permitting, and have open, masters, novice, juniors, inclusion, and adaptive events.

NOTE on Inclusion Events:  Inclusion 2x and 4x events must be composed of 50% para rowers.  The remainder of the rowers may be male, female, or non-binary.  While rowers are generally required to represent only one club at a regatta, a rower who is an inclusion partner may represent the club of the adaptive athlete(s) in the race in which he/she/they are an inclusion partner.

REQUESTS FROM THE ORGANIZERS:

1) Please bring your own bow numbers if at all possible;

2) To cut down on plastic waste, please bring reusable water bottles.  We have potable water on site.

3) Have fun and be kind to our volunteers.

SAFETY

Regatta Safety Plan can be found HERE  Race day is expected to be very hot.  We will have a misting tent and water for racers but please come prepared.  If conditions become unsafe for racing, we will halt racing.

PARKING

TRAILER PARKING - IMPORTANT: We have space for a maximum of nine trailers. Teams with trailers must notify us of their plans to bring a trailer at the time of registration and schedule an arrival time and/or request any special accommodation by contacting  Gretchen at [email protected] and [email protected]  Overnight parking will be available for trailers arriving Friday evening. We will try to accommodate every request but please note that actual placement is on a first come, first serve basis.

Car Toppers

NEW:  We are not able to provide parking for scullers who are car-topping but you may unload your boat at the regatta site and park your car at Maritime Plaza.  We apologize for this inconvenience and the extra time it will take.

Parking for Rowers and Spectators

Parking for rowers and spectators will be at Maritime Plaza, Upper Deck Parking Lot at 1201 M Street SE DC, which is approximately 0.5 mile from the boathouse and race course.  Upon entering M Street, Regatta volunteers will direct you to the appropriate location.  Please display this PARKING PASS A free shuttle will offer pick up and drop off service for rowers and spectators between the parking lot and the boathouse.  Rowers and spectators may be dropped off closer to the boathouse at the designated drop off location but please do not park on the roadside near the boathouse; those spots are reserved for referees and handicapped rowers and spectators.  We also need to ensure space for access of emergency vehicles and shuttle drop-off and turnaround.
